L’innovazione in Liguria. Verso un sistema innovativo regionale ligure?

This paper is part of the outcomes of the research project, coordinated by prof. L.Caselli, related to small and medium enterprises in Genoa area.
Paper’s objective is to analyse Genoa area by the innovation perspective, outlining the related information’s lacks and measuring problems. This topic, deeply recognised as a strategic asset for economic and social development, is in fact still missing a structural monitor activity so that there is the feeling of an information lack.
The aim of the author is to present a picture as complete as possible of the innovation system of Genoa, adopting main theoretical frameworks developed by national and international literature. Regional innovation system results as the most suitable concept, allowing at the same time national and international regions comparison on the basis of a set of indicator developed by European Commission.
Paper goes on this base-hypothesis analysing regional scientific and technological framework, institutional and normative framework and main and recent initiatives in the innovation field. Some conclusions regarding regional actual status and its possible evolution close the paper.
