What reasons do explain this movement? What warnings have to be considered in order to avoid an unsuitable transferring of paradigms and methodologies specifically designed for the private enterprises, where they often have failed? What advices do emerge from real experiences? Arguing about such questions, the essay supports the idea that, if correctly interpreted, a strategic planning process can be an opportunity not to be missed in the present context of public organizations.
