Abstract:

IT governance regards the planning and implementation of information technologies in large companies characterised by high organizational complexity. It is different from simple IT management, because IT governance aims at defining processes, activities, responsibilities and accountability deriving from the alignment between the technological investments and business strategies.
The author examines IT governance in complex business systems, that is multi-subject value systems, composed by several different and independent business actors. After defining IT governance and briefly describing its application in large companies, she designs a possible IT governance model in business systems and deals with the methods for evaluating their implementation and performance.
