Liberalizzazione e strategie aziendali nel mercato del gas: l’esperienza del gruppo ENI

Within the liberalization process occurring in the Italian gas market, the paper studies ENI’s performance in the period 2000-05. More deeply, the paper focuses the most relevant strategic and organizational changes regarding the company and its relationship with the energy industry.
The research framework is based on the European and Italian laws concerning the gas market. Relevant changes concerning ENI’s strategy and structure in the period are reviewed. Research hypotheses concerning the causal relationship between the two variables are set and tested. The analysis is based both on public sources and on private information such as ENI’s management surveys, historical archives and corporate governance reports.
