Abstract:

Undoubtedly among the biggest changes occurred after the Second World War, there is the entrance of China on the international economic scene. In a relatively short time, it has become the "locomotive of the world economy". Actually this phenomenon is part of a broader changing process, represented by the shift of balance toward the "sinic-Confucian" Asia in the economic world. This has led, for Western companies, to a sharp increase in competitive tension, but also to the possibility to enter new markets characterized by significant development potential. The article, after recalling the basic characteristics of the historical phase of globalization and after describing the essential steps that led China to emerge in the world international economic scene, aims to understand the concrete commercial potential offered by this immense Country to Westerner businesses.
